スタンフォード大学 US-ATMC の公開授業「Women in Japanese Business」に、JWIBAとして協力参加しました ✨

本パネルディスカッションでは、日本社会に事業会社・スタートアップ投資・研究機関という異なる立場から関わってきた3名が登壇し、それぞれの経験をもとに、日本で働く女性が直面する構造的な課題や、変化の兆しについて議論しました。

「女性のリーダーシップをどう増やすか」のみならず、これからのリーダーシップとは何か、またそれがどのような前提のもとで語られてきたのかを問い直す議論も展開されました。

JWIBAの調査結果 📚を交えながら、海外で挑戦する日本人女性たちのキャリアの移行期に生まれる多様性や違和感についても、率直な意見交換が行われました。

公開授業という開かれた空間で、世代や立場を越えた対話が生まれたことは、この講義ならではの大きな価値でした！

JWIBA had the pleasure of collaborating in the Stanford University US-Asia Technology Management Center’s public course, “Women in Japanese Business.” ✨

This panel discussion brought together three speakers Makiko Kawabe, PhD Yuri Nishikawa Saki Oshima who have engaged with Japanese society from different perspectives—corporate business, startup investment, and research institutions. Drawing on their respective experiences, they discussed the structural challenges faced by women working in Japan, as well as emerging signs of change.

The conversation addressed not only how to increase the number of women leaders, but also invited participants to rethink what leadership should look like going forward, and the assumptions under which leadership has traditionally been discussed. 

Incorporating findings from JWIBA’s research 📚, the panel explored the diversity and sense of dissonance that can arise during career transitions among Japanese women pursuing opportunities abroad.

The open classroom setting enabled meaningful dialogue across generations and professional backgrounds, highlighting the unique value of this course!

今年、JWIBAが関わる最初のイベントとして、Stanford University US-ATMCのプログラム「Women in Japanese Business」に協力参加します。

本セッションには、JWIBAメンバーの中からバックグラウンドの異なる3名が登壇し、日本のビジネスにおける女性の立ち位置について、課題や可能性をそれぞれの立場・経験から議論します。

会場は、JWIBAのMeetupでも度々使用させていただいているStanford Encina Commons, Room 123。また、オンラインでの参加も可能です。

コミュニティとしてもご縁のある場所で、学生の皆さんと率直な対話ができることを楽しみにしています。

本イベントは公開授業です。

開催日は迫っていますが、対面・オンライン問わず、ご関心のある方、スタンフォード関係者の方はぜひご参加ください。

【Stanford Open Class Announcement】

As JWIBA’s first event of the year, we are pleased to collaborate with Stanford US-ATMC’s program “Women in Japanese Business.”

In this session, three JWIBA members with diverse backgrounds will share their perspectives and discuss the challenges and opportunities surrounding women’s roles in Japanese business.

The class will be held at Encina Commons, Room 123, and online participation is also available.

We look forward to an open and engaging discussion with students.

This is an open class, and we welcome interested Stanford affiliates to join us either in person or online.
